Established in 1969, Tiny Tots Development Center (TTDC) provides child care services and early childhood education in a nurturing environment acknowledging cultural diversity. We are the largest ECEAP provider (Early Childhood Education Program) of free childcare within Seattle. The motto of Tiny Tots is “Where loving care comes first”, and we are fortunate to have a dedicated staff that shares this belief. We have over 35 paid staff at all sites, student interns and community volunteers. Our programs serve children and families from a wide variety of ethnic and economic backgrounds. Tiny Tots is a registered 501(c)3 nonprofit organization.

What childcare options does Tiny Tots Development Center offer?

We provide the following types of care and educational programs:

  • Infants up to 11 months of age
  • Toddlers ages 12 – 29 months
  • Preschool children over 30 months of age
  • ECEAP free preschool
  • Early Learning Network (ELN) enhanced preschool
  • Before school care for school-age children over age 6
  • After school care for school-age children over age 6
  • Summer school-age care and activities program

Please note that there is a fee charged for all of these services except for ECEAP.
Not all services are not available at all locations; Infant Care is available only at Tiny Tots Main. If you are uncertain about which program your child should enter, please call with questions:(206)723-1590.
For a child to participate in an ECEAP program, families must meet the following criteria:

  • A parent must live or work in the City of Seattle.

  • You must meet certain income levels in order to be eligible for the ECEAP program.

    How do I apply for free preschool?

    The Early Childhood Education and Assistance Program (ECEAP) is a “whole-child,” comprehensive, family-focused preschool program designed to help low-income children and their families succeed in school and life. For a child to participate in an ECEAP program, families must meet the following criteria: · The child must be 4 years old or approaching age 4 (four by August 31). · A parent must live or work in the City of Seattle. · You must meet certain income levels in order to be eligible for the ECEAP program. Please contact Tiny Tots Development Center at 723-1590 to find out about picking up an application for childcare. Please prepare for your appointment with documentation of income and personal identification.

    You must meet certain income levels in order to be eligible for the ECEAP program. Please prepare for your appointment and bring documentation of income and personal identification with you.     Does Tiny Tots Development Center offer childcare at monthly rates?

    Childcare fees vary by the child’s age and the type of program the child is enrolled in.


    • Gentle Dragons at Wing Luke Elementary School, 3701 South Kenyon Street

    • Tiny Tots Main, 8302 ½ Renton Avenue South (turn in at the driveway next to Unity Church of God in Christ and drive back to Tiny Tots)

    There is no rate sheet for Bright Bell Birds, because it is an ECEAP-only (free preschool) site. Families must meet income eligibility requirements in order to receive ECEAP childcare. Please note that these rates are subject to change.

    Is food provided as part of childcare?

    Breakfast, lunch, and a snack are provided; the type of meal depends upon the type of childcare a child receives and the time of day. Children’s meals are provided by the USDA Food and Nutrition Services program. All meals meet nutritional standards set by the USDA. All children brush their teeth after meals and learn about good dental care.

    Are there any bilingual staff at Tiny Tots Development Center?

    Tiny Tots Development Center has a very ethnically and culturally diverse staff. Some of the languages spoken by staff include Vietnamese, Somali, and Tagalog. Please ask the Program Director about which languages current staff speak. All instruction, aside from foreign language lessons that may be part of curriculum activities, is conducted in English.

    Yes, but the schedule is different, from 8:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

    How do I contact Tiny Tots Development Center?

    Please visit Tiny Tots Main, 8302 1/2 Renton Avenue South, to pick up an enrollment packet for your child.

    Tiny Tots Main, the largest of our child care sites in South Seattle, is located at 8302 1/2 Renton Avenue South. The building is set back from the street. Please drive into the driveway at Unity Church of God in Christ (8302 Renton Avenue South) and head back until you see Tiny Tots Main. The cross street on the north side is Rose Street.

    What is the CLC program?

    Our after-school Community Learning Center program, based at Van Asselt Elementary School, provides tutoring and one-on-one assistance with homework and reinforcement of basic skills. CLCs also provide culturally relevant enrichment activities from a variety of disciplines.


    Our Community Learning Center program provides tutoring and one-on-one assistance with homework and reinforcement of basic skills that will help primary school and elementary students pass the WASL (Washington State Assessment of Student Learning) exam at their grade level.

    A September 2006 report from the Washington Superintendent of Public Instruction indicates that WASL test scores rose at our CLC program at Van Asselt Elementary School, where we have had a program in place for several years. CLC participants try harder in school, make good decisions, and get along with others.
